Patience and Tolerance

To what degree you want what you want defines your patience and to what degree you don’t want what you don’t want explains your tolerance.

Patience and tolerance are two of the most important contents of the human psyche, which explain the balance of one’s emotions. They actually tell a lot about the overall nature of a person.

Most of the time, we believe that patience and tolerance are all about waiting; waiting for the bus to get somewhere, waiting for our turn in the queue, waiting for our salary to buy things and pay our bills, waiting to meet someone, and so on.

However, these two factors somehow cover every aspect of our lives. We count a lot on these two things in our everyday lives, whether it’s our relationships with the people in our surroundings or doing different tasks at the workplace. We even depend on them for our short-term and long-term life goals. Every single task or issue in our life somehow challenges our patience and tolerance.

Let’s see how patience and tolerance work in the context of life goals.

Every life goal has three different stages. First, the imaginative part where you think and create an idea. Then comes the second stage where you take practical steps to give shape to your idea. And then the last stage where you experience the result or outcome. Let’s see how patience and tolerance work in these three different stages.

In the imaginative stage, we simply think of an idea. The process of creating an idea is super amazing. You get a kick of dopamine right away. This is because you are creating something, and creativity itself makes you feel happy. Secondly, there is a sense of achievement in it and so, the first stage is a win-win situation.

Patience and tolerance don’t come into action in this stage. And so, one cannot test these attributes during this stage.

In the second stage of your goal, you need to follow practical steps. In this part, you do face patience and tolerance. The burden of the job tests your tolerance level and the wait for the outcome tests your patience.

Depending on your goal, you might want to see the outcome really quickly. So much so that this level might make you feel uneasy. Sometimes, this lack of patience might affect your focus and hamper the activities of chasing your goal. And so, probably, it’s not good to keep your eyes on the results all the time.

The best way to keep working on your goal is to make sure to enjoy your job. You don’t need to wait for the result to come, it’s there already. As long as you are engaged in the process, rest assured that the result is there waiting for you.

You see here we somehow try to trick tolerance and patience. You are no longer going to feel the burden of the job because you start to enjoy it. And you are no longer desperate for the outcome because you know you are going to witness it anyway. As soon as you take care of your patience and tolerance, working on your goal seems super easy.

Now let’s see how patience and tolerance work in the last stage of your pursuit. In this stage, you witness the result or outcome of your goal. To understand it more clearly, let’s take an example of our YouTube channel, Solid Clarity. If we aim to have millions of subscribers and wait for this result from day one, we might stop working on it after we get the millions of followers. Making more content might not excite us anymore. Also, making content might start to feel more of a burden. With such huge success, the excitement might spoil us.

However, if we aim to enjoy ourselves while making content, we will continue working on this channel for a long time. This is why our goal is to learn, teach, and improve our understanding. It is happening now when we’re only one thousand on this platform and it will continue even after millions of followers.

And so, remember, every goal of our lives teaches us something. Along with so many other experiences, they also teach us patience and tolerance.

Together, along with achieving our practical goals, we are also improving ourselves. That’s a real achievement. That’s the reason why successful people achieve things easily; they improve over time. Their journey helps them grow and improve. They can achieve more because they have learned more.

Let’s learn and improve together through this Platform. Be part of our journey, Follow us on YouTube.

Thanks for reading, until next time keep working on your golas and never stop growing.
